The first mention of the Sabbath is in Genesis chapter two verse two. Only here is is called "The seventh day." After the sixth day of creation Yah rested from all his work. Many people say that the sabbath was done away with because we are no longer under the "law of Moses." However, we see in Genesis 2:2 that the Sabbath was establish before the decalog otherwise known as "The Ten Commandments. God blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it, meaning he santified it.
"Sanctify" means to set apart for a holy use.
The Catholic Church Changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday
The Catholic Church acknowledges changing the day of Sabbath worship from Saturday to Sunday, citing the resurrection of Jesus on Sunday as the primary reason, and also the descent of the Holy Spirit on a Sunday. They explain this change at the Council of Laodicea (around 363-364 AD), according to some Catholic sources. blue law

Exodus 31:17 states that the Sabbath is a sign between me and the children of Isreal for ever.
And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
